LAWMA Unified Business Portal

The LAWMA Unified Business Portal was designed as an internal platform for administrators and billing officers to manage business accounts, track payments, and monitor service performance. However, the existing system was cumbersome, with scattered data and unclear navigation. My goal was to design an intuitive, data-driven admin portal that simplifies internal workflows and enhances operational visibility.

Project Goals

  • Design a centralized dashboard with real-time data visualization.
  • Simplify the process of managing and updating business accounts.
  • Introduce clearer navigation and hierarchy for modules (Billing, Accounts, Payments, Reports).
  • Enhance accessibility and consistency across the interface.

Key Design Features

The portal was built around nine main sections, all working together to make daily operations smoother. Each part was designed to help LAWMA administrators manage people, partners, payments, and reports more easily. From tracking activities on the dashboard to handling payments and resolving issues, the portal brings everything into one simple and organized system which in turn makes work faster, clearer, and more connected across teams.

Dashboard

This is the heart of the portal. It gives a quick snapshot of what’s going on — total businesses, active PSPs, payments, and overall performance. It helps the team stay updated and make faster decisions without digging through multiple pages.

Admin (Users)

This section handles user management. It allows the team to create accounts, assign roles, and control who has access to what. It keeps things secure and helps everyone work within their responsibilities.

Facilities

This part of the portal keeps all business and service locations organized. It helps the team easily find, update, or track information about facilities and link them with their respective service plans.

Reports

This section focuses on verifying and reconciling payments. It helps ensure that all transactions are accurate, transparent, and properly accounted for.

Impact
  • Created a foundation for future digital upgrades within LAWMA’s ecosystem
  • Increased user confidence through cleaner data visualization and simplified UI
  • Lowered dependency on manual spreadsheets

Conclusion

The LAWMA Unified Business Portal case demonstrates how thoughtful design can streamline public sector operations. By focusing on structure, visibility, and scalability, the new portal empowers LAWMA teams to manage waste billing more efficiently and support the organization’s digital transformation goals.
