This generous contribution was made in honor of the company’s Managing Director, Dr. Bisi Aina, as part of the celebration of his 60th birthday, coinciding with SoftAlliance’s 20th anniversary.
Dr. Aina, an alumnus of St. Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, class of 1977, was motivated to give back to his alma mater as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. The donation includes four newly renovated toilets and the fencing of part of the school, improving both hygiene and security for the students.
Addressing the press, Dr. Aina highlighted the importance of providing a clean and secure learning environment for students and teachers.
“It shouldn’t be too much to ask for a safe, clean learning space where both students and teachers can thrive,” he said.
He also expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the school’s infrastructure, noting that such issues can negatively affect learning experiences.
In his remarks, Dr. Aina further revealed, “The compound had become a haven for miscreants and community nuisances who used the school for nefarious activities, posing a real threat to both staff and students.” He noted that this situation could no longer be ignored and that action was needed to protect the school’s environment.
“This donation allows me to give back to the school that laid the foundation for my education. After visiting St. Patrick’s and seeing the poor condition of the facilities, I knew I had to do something,” Dr. Aina added. He emphasized that this project aligns with SoftAlliance’s broader commitment to supporting educational institutions across Nigeria.
The newly renovated perimeter fence and toilets were inaugurated by Dr. Aina, who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Folake Aina, and other SoftAlliance directors. In addition to the infrastructure donation, cash awards were presented to 42 individuals, including 15 top-performing pupils in primaries I-V, 12 teachers, and cultural dancers.
Dr. Aina also used the occasion to launch his new book, JAPA Chronicles, which serves as a guide and roadmap for individuals considering relocation.
The book offers practical advice, emotional support, and strategic insights to ensure a successful transition. It narrates Dr. Aina’s own experience of relocating from Nigeria in 1998, providing a firsthand account of the challenges and triumphs faced. The book aims to serve as a resource for Nigerians looking to embark on a similar journey.
Encouraging the pupils to continue striving for excellence, Dr. Aina said, “Your potential is limitless, and the world is waiting for the unique gifts only you can bring. Never stop dreaming, learning, and believing.”
